The Future of Learning and Teaching – Defining and Delivering an Effective and Inclusive digital/blended offering (added March 2024)
This report is a result of a joint ‘Tertiary Enhancement Topic’ project, instigated by the SFC and carried out by QAA Scotland, Education Scotland, CDN and sparqs.
Focussing on first hand student experience, the report looks at what students want from blended learning and what approaches lead to the best outcomes. It considers designing and delivering an effective and inclusive digital/blended learning offering in Scotland’s colleges and universities.

SFC: Demand for Scottish Universities Remains High (February 2023)
University remains an attractive proposition according to the latest data from UCAS, the universities admissions service. In a report published on 9 February 2023, UCAS confirmed that applications to Scottish universities have increased by 2% compared with pre-pandemic levels (2,600 additional applicants).
Scottish Funding Council – Inequalities in tertiary education
The Scottish Funding Council has published a report, produced jointly with the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
The report identifies the most persistent inequalities in Scotland’s tertiary education system and paves the way for their removal through a set of national equality outcomes.
The joint report is the first time national equality outcomes have been agreed in partnership between a sector body and Britain’s equality regulator.

College student satisfaction increases
The Scottish Funding Council have published statistics from the 2022 Student Satisfaction and Engagement Survey, which show student satisfaction rates in colleges are on the rise.

Coherence and Sustainability: Review of Tertiary Education and Research SFC, June 2021
The Scottish Funding Council has published a report with recommendations for the future of Scotland’s College and university system.
The Phase 3 report, following on from two earlier reports, sets out the significant strengths of Scotland’s colleges and universities, the challenges they are facing over the coming years, and recommends ways to continue to secure good outcomes for current and future students in terms of fair access, good quality learning environments, and readiness for their next steps in the world; for employers and the changing world of work; and for wider social and economic benefit.
